Culture, Nature & the Sky

Six Days That Cover Mauritius from the Ground Up — and from the Air

Most people come to Mauritius for the beach. But the island has another side entirely: volcanic highlands, a Hindu lake cradled in a forest crater, a botanical garden full of giant water lilies, a colonial capital with layers of history, and sugar estates that shaped the island's economy for centuries. This six-day itinerary covers all of it. And on Day 4, you'll see all of it again from a helicopter — including the famous underwater waterfall illusion off Le Morne Brabant that most visitors only ever see in photographs.

Package Highlights

Six days built around three distinct experiences — culture, nature and the sea — with a helicopter flight stitching them all together from above.

Private airport transfers with meet & greet assistance on arrival
Full-day North Island tour — Botanical Garden, sugar estate museum & Port Louis
Full-day South Island tour — Trou aux Cerfs, Grand Bassin & Chamarel
Scenic helicopter flight over Le Morne Brabant & the underwater waterfall illusion
Caudan Waterfront — Port Louis' most vibrant shopping and dining complex
Leisure beach day with optional spa, snorkelling or boat trips

The Underwater Waterfall — Mauritius' Most Spectacular Optical Illusion

Off the southwestern tip of Mauritius, near the dramatic basalt peninsula of Le Morne Brabant, a trick of ocean currents and shifting seabed creates the appearance of a vast waterfall cascading underwater into the deep. Sand and silt carried along the seafloor drift off the edge of the continental shelf in a swirling cascade of colour that photographs have struggled to do justice to. Seeing it from a helicopter, in person, is a different experience entirely.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Mauritius resort arrival beach Day 1 Day 1

Arrival in Mauritius — Settle In & Unwind

Our representative meets you in the arrivals hall at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport and transfers you directly to your resort. The first afternoon is deliberately unscheduled — check in, find the beach or the pool, and let the island do its thing.

Meals: None on Day 1 (overnight only)

Pamplemousses Botanical Garden giant water lilies Mauritius Day 2 Day 2

North Island Tour — Port Louis & the Botanical Garden

After breakfast, your guide picks you up for a full-day tour of North Mauritius. The day begins at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam National Botanical Garden in Pamplemousses — its signature sight, the giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies, is something visitors consistently underestimate until they're standing in front of them. From the gardens, continue to a historic sugar estate museum, then Port Louis, where Chinese merchants, Indian traders, Creole culture and colonial architecture coexist. The Caudan Waterfront complex rounds out the afternoon.

South Mauritius tour Grand Bassin Chamarel Day 3 Day 3

South Island Tour — Volcanoes, Sacred Sites & Coloured Earth

First stop is Trou aux Cerfs in Curepipe — a dormant volcanic crater that you can walk the rim of. From there, drop down toward Grand Bassin, known to Hindu devotees as Ganga Talao — one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites outside India. The afternoon belongs to Chamarel, where the Seven Coloured Earth awaits — a series of undulating dunes in seven distinct shades of volcanic soil that never seem to mix despite the rain and the wind.

Helicopter flight Le Morne Mauritius underwater waterfall Day 4 Day 4

Le Morne Helicopter Experience — The Island from Above

This is the day that changes how you see the island. After breakfast, transfer to the helicopter departure point for your scenic flight over Mauritius. From the air, the full geography of the island becomes clear: the dark basalt peaks of the interior, the vast turquoise lagoon, and — out past Le Morne Brabant — the famous underwater waterfall illusion. After landing, the afternoon is free — Le Morne Beach is nearby, the water is warm, and the day is yours.

Optional: Beachside lunch at Le Morne, own cost — your guide can recommend the best local spots.

Full Leisure Day — The Beach, the Pool & Whatever You Fancy

Day 5 belongs to you, entirely. Sleep in, walk the beach, take a snorkelling trip if the lagoon is calling, book a spa treatment, or hire a kayak and paddle out past the reef. The resort handles the rest.

Optional: Spa treatments, snorkelling, glass-bottom boat trips — own cost.

Mauritius airport departure Day 6 Day 6

Departure — Farewell to Mauritius

A final breakfast at the resort, then check out and private transfer to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. The helicopter view is probably still replaying somewhere in your head — that's how it tends to go with Mauritius.
